Haryana Culture

Pottery making in Haryana is as popular as in any other state of India. Pots are made of clay, which come very cheap and easy, which is why this craft is so common in most places. The potter works on a wheel with clay to create the pots and other things like toys.  And the women of the family make the designs and colors the pots and toys

In Phulkari art motifs of birds, flowers and human figures are stitched on a colorful cloth using darning needles. The design is done from the reverse side on the cloth in a vertical and horizontal pattern. Satin and silk is also used for extra effect.

Haryana has a rich cultural heritage that goes back to the Indus Valley Civilization era. Dhosi Hill, the ashram of the mythical Rishi Chawing is an important site where Chyawanprash was purportedly formulated for the first time. The last Hindu emperor of India who belonged to Rewari in Haryana, Hemi declared himself a 'Vikramaditya' king after defeating Akbar's forces in Delhi in 1556. The age-old customs of meditation, Yoga and chanting of Vedic mantras are still observed by the masses. Famous yoga guru Swami Ramdev is from Mahendragarh in Haryana. Seasonal and religious festivals glorify the culture of this region. Haryana has a variety of folk dances
its       rays over lush green paddy fields and evenings dive into the heart of a colorful horizon that bespeaks an impeccable embroidery of a martial language and inimitable cordiality. The hookas, the khaats, the peepal, the bargad, the kuan, the daaman…..Yes, this is our very own Haryana. Though we say that it is the “green belt” of our country, but we have proved the world that Haryana is no more a “bread-basket” but is also the central hub for the country’s major industries, specially the most emerging ones are finding their way straight away to Haryana.
